Scoops Ice Cream Shop

Giselle:

At our University there is a little shop just around the corner from the bookstore.  I don't hardly ever go here unless it is Fall/Winter time and I'm craving some Hot Chocolate.  I introduced Mike to Scoops this semester and got one for us both to try after he got out of class.  I put Hazelnut flavoring in mine and it was delicious! Mike of course had to try some.  We actually ended up going back so that he could put some in his as well.

Another reason I love this little shop is the cup sizes are the perfect proportion sizes.  You feel full after you drink it, completely. The Hazelnut gives it the right about balance and also a little "pop" of flavor.

So I'm here waiting for Mike to get of his class so that we can head to go practice and what better way to do so than with blogging and some Hot Chocolate to top it off??  It makes waiting that much better!

Mike:

Why is Giselle a keeper?  We're always together.  So that's why our blogging meshes so perfectly together, lol.  Makes drinking hot chocolate together much easier.  Second best reason? ... She bought me hot chocolate.  Giselle told me there was a surprise when I met her, and it was something small.  There I was pondering as I saw two cups in her hands.  Little did I know that they were filled with chocolaty goodness.

When I first tasted mine, it was of course really good.  I would rank Scoops as one of my favorites just off that.  BUT... when Giselle said something about hers being different and how she liked it, I had to take a sip of it.  Yeah, it was good.  Actually, it was really good.  Hazelnut Hot Chocolate as I will deem it's title.  I can't describe it except that it has that nice nutty taste to it with a bit of sweetness and still keeping your mouth wanting more.  If you ever get a chance, head over to UVU and try the hot chocolate.  I guarantee you'll enjoy it.

(Poor Giselle got a red hand once spilling her precious cup of goodness when she went there without me.  It's cause she went without me, jk. ;) Give her some love please)

By the way, if you have a chocolaty experience you'd like to share, leave a comment for us until we get a CONTACT US page all set up.  We're also thinking about guest bloggers.  If you live anywhere in the states and world and there is somewhere absolutely amazing, let us know.  We're excited to hear about your stories as well as the simmering hot stuff that goes with it!

P.S.  Be sure to find them on FACEBOOK and at their UVU Page.

I love almost everything about Star Bucks. I love the smell when you walk into the store, especially went the weather is cold and chilly.  There is a shop here in my home town and Mike and I decided to go and have a round of Hot Cocoa before our date that night.

We ordered the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate, and the Caramel Apple SpiceNeither of us had tried either before so we wanted to surprise our mouths a little bit.  Mike Tried the Salted Caramel first and I tried the Apple Spice.  I was not expecting the Apple Spice to taste as good as it did.  I loved it so much that I am going to be stalking Pinterest as well as all over the web so that I can make it for us two and my family.  That is how much I loved it.

Next it was my turn to taste the Salted Caramel.   I will be totally honest, I had one sip and I didn't like it at all.  The aftertaste was anything but pleasurable.  It felt like I was drinking ocean water with a hint of burnt chocolate.  Mike and I continued to share the Apple Spice back and forth until the cup was completely empty.   Being the gentleman that he is, he let me have the last sip. :)  When we were ordering we didn't realize that the Apple Spice wasn't really hot chocolate, but needless to say I would prefer their Apple Spice over the Hot Chocolate any day!

Michael:

So I guess it's my turn to add to the wonderful story of the night.  As a little background to the evening. Giselle and I were waiting for our friends to show up so we could go to a nearby Haunted Maze.   What better thing is there to do but enjoy a lil' cup of heaven with a beautiful girl away from the cold in a place like Starbucks?  Not much.

I had the privilege of taking the first sip of the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate.  Simply put.. I don't think I will be ordering it again.  People may love it and I can relate to them in that there are those who like their regular chips, and those that love their Salt & Vinegar (I do).  This on the other hand, had a slightly unpleasant aftertaste.  The drink was like people put Salt Water Taffy and Chocolate and blending it, add water, wallah. That just sounds disgusting.

Like Giselle said, the Caramel Apple Spice was delicious.  So perfect for our taste buds.  I would highly recommend that drink on any cold day, night, morning, whenever!  Back to hot chocolate.  In Starbucks defense, I went to the interwebs to looks up their hot chocolate.  Although not on the MENU in the image here, there are three other hot chocolates provides by the Starbucks in our area.  We'll have to go back sometimes in a "Part 2" to see how they stack up against our first experience.  Just so you know, they are: Hot Chocolate (plain), Peppermint Hot Chocolate, and White Hot Chocolate (which I look most forward to).

Check out a few pictures of our experience below.

We'd love your input.  We would also to hear about your favorite hot chocolate concoctions and where you recommend we try.  Thanks!
